We though about our learning at the museum. We looked at four different areas- Victorian Schools, jobs for Victorian children, Victorian homes and Victorian toys. We had to create a postcard to show what we had learnt on our visit to the Victorian museum. The postcard had to show what it was like in Victorian times. If we chose a toy we had to show the type of child who would play with it and where they would play. Have a look at our postcards. Does it show you what we have learnt?

We used the TASC wheel to help us to design little wooden people from the Victorian Times. Have a look at the people below can you guess if the are rich Victorian people or poor Victorian people.

Some children followed instructions to create toys which poor children will have played with. They worked well to follow the instructions and showed a great level of perseverance when things got tricky.

We have been busy creating information booklets, writing postcards to our Victorian mummies and writing a  recount of a trip to show what we have learnt about the Victorian times. Have a look on the display in our classroom at some of the examples of our writing.

The frogs have arrived in our school pond again and have already laid frogspawn. It will be fantastic for us to watch the frogspawn develop into tadpoles. Make sure you visit it regularly so you can see how our family of frogs are growing- we will post lots of new pictures too and show you what we have been learning as their life cycle begins again.

We have been creating a fantastic Habitat display in the classroom- come in and have a look! Here is some of the descriptive writing we have written about specific animals- Can you guess which animals we are writing about? Which habitat would they live in?

Today we found a suitcase in our classroom. We looked at the suitcase and we thought about whose case it might be here are some of our ideas.

It is from the bronze age when they invented metal.- Matthew F

It's the BFG's suitcase, he always has one with him.- Reuben.

The suitcase is from the olden days.- Brooke C and Amelia C

I think it is from the war times in 1942.- Dan

I think it is Paddington Bear's suitcase.- Dan

It is not new because new suitcases have wheels on them.- Lily

I think the suitcase is from the Victorian time, I have seen some pictures of them. -Aaron

It looks at bit old- there is a rip in it.- Brooke J

The Queen's Knickers book has a similar suitcase in it.- Sammy

A  music bag for an instrument.- Maisie F

We looked at the different items in the suitcase to see if we had any clues to who the suitcase belonged to.

We thought that it must be a for a young child and maybe a girl as the shirt is small and has frills.

Some children thought it belongs to a young girl who lived in the Victorian times.

We enjoyed World Book Day and spent the week doing lots of activities around the book The Disgusting Sandwich. Look at our classroom door, we all helped to decorate it to look like the book.

We wrote a story tell people the journey the sandwich went on, we had to remember to use prepositions to explain where the sandwich went.

We also wrote instructions to tell people how to make a disgusting sandwich. We are getting brilliant at using the features of an instruction text including- prepositions, imperative verbs, time connectives and adjectives.

Look at us dressed up as different book characters. We brought in new books that we had chosen ourselves for our school library too.

Don't forget the travelling boor fair is in school from tomorrow until next Tuesday. Come and have a look at the books on sale- they look fantastic.
